School House Rock! Rocks!!!

Joe over at C&L always manages to find the funniest shit.

On the other hand:

This is not funny.

On July 8, 2004, Officers responding to a VOP warrant for Jerry Siler in Knoxville, TN sent his wife and 8 year old son out for a walk. For the next two hours they beat Mr. Siler and threatened him (ultimately threatening to murder him), in order to coerce him into signing a voluntary consent form. What they didn't know, however is that Mr. Siler's wife switched on a microcassette recorder just before the officers entered their home. (warning listening to this audio file may make you involuntarily wretch).

On the bright side, the 5 officers involved in this spectacular episode in the "War on Drugs"TM were sentenced to an average of 59.4 years in the Federal Pen. Finally, a win for the good guys.

For over 20 years we've been fighting a HUGELY unsuccessful war on drugs that was initiated by good ol' Ronbo Reagan (the first problem was that they waged the war on Americans with Drugs instead of tightening security at borders and ports to prevent the majority of the drugs consumed in the US from getting in to begin with, sound familiar???). Does anyone here think that Georgie "All hat, no cattle" Bush is really gonna be any better at waging the "War on Terrorism"? the first clue to the ridiculousness of that particular notion is that we've declared war on a TACTIC.

Take a minute to do your part.

Telco's are currently lobbying congress to end 'net neutrality'. It seems that they want to be the deciders when it comes to what you are able to do on the net. Take a few minutes and peruse Save the Internet. Power to the People, and all that....

In case you couldn't figure out the instructions....

this is the result when you type Q33NY into word with "Wingdings" as the selected font.

q33ny

This is twisted, Read it all and do the little execise at the end, CREEPY!

Follow the steps at the end, this is pretty creepy!
>
1) New York City has 11 letters

2) Afghanistan has 11 letters.

3) Ramsin Yuseb (The terrorist who threatened to destroy the Twin Towers in 1993) has 11 letters.

4) George W Bush has 11 letters.

This could be a mere coincidence, but this gets more interesting:

1) New York is the 11th state.

2) The first plane crashing against the Twin Towers was flight number 11.

3) Flight 11 was carrying 92 passengers. 9 + 2 = 11

4) Flight 77 which also hit Twin Towers, was carrying 65 passengers. 6+5 = 11

5) The tragedy was on September 11, or 9/11 as it is now known. 9 + 1+ 1 = 11

6) The date is equal to the US emergency services telephone number 911. 9 + 1 + 1 = 11.

Sheer coincidence..?! Read on and make up your own mind:

1) The total number of victims inside all the hi-jacked planes was 254. >2 + 5 + 4 = 11.

2) September 11 is day number 254 of the calendar year. Again 2 + 5 + 4 = 11.

3) The Madrid bombing took place on 3/11/2004. 3 + 1 + 1 + 2 + 4 = 11.

4) The tragedy of Madrid happened 911 days after the Twin Towers incident.

Sheer coincidence..?! Read on and make up your own mind:

Now this is where things get totally eerie:

The most recognised symbol for the US, after the Stars & Stripes, is the Eagle. The following verse is taken from the Quran, the Islamic

holy book:
"For it is written that a son of Arabia would awaken a fearsome Eagle. he wrath of the Eagle would be felt throughout the lands of Allah and lo, while some of the people trembled in despair still more rejoiced: for the wrath of the Eagle cleansed the lands of Allah and there was peace."

That verse is number 9.11 of the Quran.

Still uncovinced about all of this..?! Try this and see how you feel afterwards, it made my hair stand on end:

Open Microsoft Word and do the following:

1. Type in capitals Q33 NY. This is the flight number of the first plane to hit one of the Twin Towers.

2. Highlight the Q33 NY.

3. Change the font size to 48.

4. Change the actual font to the WINGDINGS

scary huh??

What's the fucking point???

Wayne,

Exactly what would be the point of posting the Flight 93 transcripts here? What exactly would it be relative to? If it's to make the point that there were and still are extremists who will go to any lengths to kill as many people as possible for what ever cause they deem worthy, that's repetitive and unnecessary. We get it. We ALL got it on September 11, 2001, and I seriously doubt ANYONE in this room has forgotten that yet. Is it to stoke the fears of an already ridiculously terrified populace? Trust me, George and Dick have got a lock on that gig already. Be careful 'Murica, cuz the terr'rist's are comin' ta git ya!!! They wanna sneak in your window and slit yer little daughter's throat, and sodomize you and your wife, and beat your dog, and pee on your cat, and ... the list goes on and on and on. We. Get. It. In case you didn't hear me the first time: We ALL got it on September 11, 2001, and I seriously doubt ANYONE in this room has forgotten that yet.

I wouldn't necessarily summarily delete such a post but it would depend alot on the concept and the context. If you were to write a post that depended on using portions of the transcript to drive a particular point home, fine; but if you were to just post the whole transcript verbatim, it would seem rather pointless (if for no other reason than the fact that you can already find it posted in several locations on the interwebs). Um, isn't that what Google is for after all??? (I'd even be willing to wager that that's how you found it the first time you went looking for it.)

As for dumping your previous post: I'll apologise for accusing you of plagiarism but not for dumping the post. If you wanna post a link that points people to other writings on other blogs, No Problem. If you wanna excerpt someone else's work while making or raising a point of your own, Go For It. But the fact remains that this is OUR blog, it was created for US to DISCUSS OUR IDEAS, not to simply regurgitate the thoughts and ideas of others.

Mmm'Kay???

I love it when you boys break out the commie-baiting

"Stalinist-type tactic to oppress speach"

Kiss my merry, white, liberal, America-Lovin' ass.

I DELETED WAYNE'S POST.

The concept of this blog was to bring OUR OWN ORIGINAL arguments and ideas to the blog for discussion. Wayne's post was blatant wholesale plagiarism. That will not be tolerated here. Period. If you boys want to create your own blog where you copy and paste entire articles from other writers (commonly known as "theft" and/or "plagiarism") that is your decision. But ANY post that is plagiarised from another blog/site will be summarily deleted without further discussion. IF you wish to reference someone else's work, a link will suffice. Hell, I don't even have a problem with excerpting the work of others, but otherwise, fuck off. As administrator of this blog I will not allow the contributors - from either side - to plagiarise.

It is my Firm Belief...

that the FDA should classify "24"as a Schedule One narcotic. That fuckin' show is like crack cocaine dipped in crystal meth.

ok, so I lied...

I was gonna take a few days off, but I had to pop in and say this:

The 'anti-war' crowd could learn a thing or two from the immigration protesters.
Those folks know how to throw a peaceful protest.

Time off.....

I think I'm gonna take a few days (at least) off from the blog. Time to deal with a few personal matters once and for all.
I'll leave you with a quote from OverHeardInNewYork that pretty well sums up where I'm at right now:

Woman: Look at all these rude motherfuckin' men! Can't get up and let none of these ladies have a seat.
Man: Having a vagina is not a disability.

"24" Cannot be good for people with hypertensive disorders.

Yes 24 is the baddest show on Network TV...

It's no secret that I don't approve of Anyone torturing Anyone in my name as a US citizen, but for some reason I love watching Jack Bauer torture the fuck out of some terrorists.... I am so conflicted it hurts sometimes....

CHUCK LORRE PRODUCTIONS, #144

We are the afflicted,

the fallen,

and the wounded.

We are born into separateness,

suffering,

and eternal longing.

Our Salvation lies not in the things of this world,

but that is where we seek it.

For to do otherwise would tank the economy,

and then we'd be really screwed.

I watching Two and a half men (don't ask why, actually it's pretty easy to explain... background noise....) and this flashed on the screen for about a half second just before the credits rolled (I love my DVR) and I just had to share...

This is why I like Overheard in New York

Dude: I'm looking for this non-fiction book.

Dude: How to Build a Time Machine.

Crazy: So I had to get fillings in all of my teeth.
Passenger: Uh huh.
Crazy: But I figured, why let them do that to me after they drilled holes in my brain, ya know?
Passenger: Sure.
Crazy: But I figured, might as well! Although if they were going to fill my teeth, I'd want them to use jelly.
Passenger: Yep.
Crazy: But the guy at the counter said they were out of jelly. So I got a blueberry muffin.

The subway doors open. A hobo enters, holding a bottle of windex in one hand and a tube of toothpaste in the other. He says: Which is the better time to read Dostyevsky? Winter?

He sprays the windex.

Hobo: Or Spring?

He squeezes toothpaste out of the tube.

Japanese girl: Spring!
Hobo: You are correct.

Pink Moons and Yellow Stars

Bush can say whatever he likes about the reasons he went to war with Saddam, but the fact remains that we were lied to about the large majority of it and the majority of the people realize this and that is why his numbers are dropping. He can say the sky is neon pink, but we don't have to belive it. One minute we are chasing Osama and Al Qaeda (oops couldn't find them) and the next minute we are in Iraq (Didn't Osama go to Afganastan, oh their are friends, can't invade there). We still haven't caught Osama, the threat still exist, and being in Iraq spreading "our democracy" is not helping the rest of the world like us any better. I do think we live in the greatest country on earth (we could be doing this blog if we didn't), but I also think for the most part we are pretty pompous about it.

I also equate our relationship with Iraq to dating a drug addict. You support him, you get him off the drugs, but he's still the same needy, ungrateful ass as before, so you want to leave but you know if you do he will just go back on the drugs and then probably rob and destroy your house looking for drug money. Should you stay with him just because of that? No. We can not be our brother's keeper all of the time. They don't want us there, we don't want to be there. Cut our damn losses and figure a way out of this. (No I don't have an exit strategy b/c I'm not paid to think of one.)

And to get back to the Human Rights violations, there are many other nations with many more Human Rights violations, they just don't have oil and they aren't right next door to the cave-dweller we couldn't find.

Those Guys Aren't Dead Yet?

I'm shocked and amazed that 1) Gardy Loo is still together after all the form incarnation of those members always broke up. 2) Those guys are still alive, they looked like they were hanging on by a thread when they first got together. I'm sad to say I can remeber that. Geez I feel old today. Thanks Chad ; )

Even Rush Limbaugh will tell ya....

Drug abuse is a bi-partison problem..... and in this particular case... I'd have to agree

Gardy Loo is (arguably) the best Tampa band still playing (or at least the most durable)

I've been going to see the 'Loo for the better part of 15 years and I can't recall the last time I was disappointed. I even took a six foot turd to the kisser (ok, it was a prop turd, but trust me, I was just as surprised as I would have been had it been actual feces) while I was trying to pre-set focus on the EOS.... I'll have pix available soon... whether you wanna see 'em or not....

all for now... It's 5 am and JP is abusing a Casio synthesizer (for once I'm not sure if I spelled something correctly) in a manner that makes blogging impossible without the use of halucinogenics which I can no longer acquire with the ease I experienced in days long gone and a city long drowned. As stated previously, pics will follow as soon as I scrape my mellon off the carpet.... and convince Lappy to cooperate with me.....

That's All Fine And Dandy

I like the post about Saddam's human rights violations being one of the reasons we went to war. That would have been all fine and dandy, and probably got us liberals behind it, if the goverment would have used it. Instead we got WMDs. If the spinners would have just stayed out of it and the real reason would have been given, maybe everyone (and I mean both sides) wouldn't be so sick of it now. (Because if you haven't noticed, overall support for the war just keeps falling.) We went to war in Iraq b/c we needed a show of force after not getting Osama. Plain and simple. I get that, I might have even been ok with that. I realize that the general public really can't handle the truth most of the time, but this one got way out of hand. And if lying to get into a war and then when your popularity is wanning saying it was for human rights violations is moral, well let's just say I have a different view of what is moral.

BTW: I'm glad you listen to NPR : )
