Quick Hit...

Wayne,

You may remember that in my response to your essay on name-calling I wrote of conservatives saying 'democrats want the terrorists to win.' Will over at Attytood has an excellent post about Howard Kaloogian, who is running to replace the disgraced "Duke" Cunningham in a special election in CA. Aside from the basic dishonesty of Kaloogians little picture game, the thing that really stands out is this line: "...each day the news media finds any violence occurring in the country and screams and shouts about it - in part because many journalists are opposed to the U.S. effort to fight terrorism." [emphasis added]
Now, as we all know, the words "democrat", "liberal", "professor", "communist" and "journalist" are interchangeable in Conservo-Speak v. 6.0(tm). That being said I kinda think this reinforces my original claim. Not dead on the mark mind you, but considering that you fellas have a penchant for birdshot, I'd say it's close enough to register as a hit.

Are you seriously trying to make the case that there are serious journalist who DON'T want the United States to confront terrorism?

I'm not making the argument that there were/are journo's that were/are opposed to the US invasion and occupation of Iraq for various reasons. However, that does NOT equate to opposition to the "War on Terror". It's a blatant case of bait and switch - kinda like most of the neocons justifications for the invasion in the first place.

I'd really like to see the poll that you cite, do you have a link?

Seriously, if you are going to cite a poll or an article, provide links or direct quotes. Otherwise, it's just hearsay, and will be regarded as such.

Until you can provide some empirical evidence that there is an 80% liberal bias among journalists, your statistic is anecdotal at best,= hearsay or fallacy at worst.
If you are gonna quote a statistic on this blog, back it up or leave it out.

The pew survey that you refer to is from - if I remember correctly -either '84 or '88... John referred to a Reuters Poll.
Reuters, Pew... I think they are two different entities, are they not?

Wayne, Conservatives have been quoting the same tired, old Pew poll for 10 or 15 years, at least. IF you can resend the damned poll, fine, otherwise shut up about it.
If you want to make the claim that the majority of journalists are liberal and that their coverage of the news is biased as a result bring some fucking facts. Is it that so difficult???
